Life 101
Many of us go through life unaware, or in denial of who we really are. Often our own unique feelings and ideas get squashed or take the back seat to the status quo. We dream, but lack the courage to live out loud. Over time doubt and fear erode our spirit. Life becomes mechanical, mundane or even lost. The School of Life was inspired by a missed opportunity.
The School of Life is an informal, experiential, mentorship program that encourages people to find within themselves that special something which makes them unique. Participants experience a wide variety of creative activities and, along the way, develop confidence and life skills as they build relationships within a community.
The School of Life hires local, skilled artisans who act as both mentor and role model to small groups in workshop settings, sharing their knowledge and talents in a friendly, healthy and non-competitive environment. (See Instructors)
The School of Life is dedicated to offering:
- Community affordable access to the arts and other skill mentoring programs, thereby providing positive life experiences, engendering quality friendships, community interaction, and healthy self and group esteem.
- Arts and Hospitality Youth Entrepreneurial Program (YEP).
- Scholarship Program
Funds are raised through a variety of means including grant applications, fund-raising events, sponsorships, donations and contributions directly from participants on an ability to pay basis.
